On February 10, 2000 Congressman Jim Saxton from the Third Congressional District of New Jersey announced that Basic Commerce and Industries, Inc. (BCI) of Moorestown, NJ has been awarded a five year, $29 million government contract by the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division for Technical and Engineering Support for U.S. Navy Surface Combatants. Subcontractors approved for this contract are Sonalysts, Inc. of Waterford, CT and AMSEC LLC of Virginia Beach, VA.
BCI, established in 1981, is a systems and software engineering company with specialization in RADAR, Command and Control, communications, weapons control, weather systems, naval combat systems and Human Factors Engineering. The principal location for performance under this contract will be in Dahlgren, VA. Other locations where work will be accomplished are Norfolk, VA, Orlando, FL, San Diego, CA, Boulder CO, and Arlington, VA. Mr. Edward B. Hontz is Vice President in charge of BCI´s Dahlgren operations and is the program manager for the contract.
Capt. Vaughn Mahaffey, Commander of the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division stated, "We are pleased to be able to contract with this uniquely qualified and highly regarded company".
