On November 1, 2002, Basic Commerce & Industries, Inc. (BCI) of Moorestown, NJ, was awarded a subcontract by BAE Systems to provide systems engineering and integration support for the US Navy AEGIS Technical Representative in Mount Laurel, NJ.  If all options are exercised, this will be a ten-year contract with an estimated value of $4.6 million.

The AEGIS Technical Representative is responsible for monitoring large scale Engineering Development, Integration and Test, production and maintenance contracts for the US Navy’s Japanese, Spanish and Norwegian AEGIS Ship programs. AEGIS, long recognized as the air defense shield of the Fleet, incorporates anti-submarine, strike & command, and control capability into AEGIS Cruisers and Destroyers.

Under this contract, BCI will support AEGIS weapon system baseline design, development and test processes. BCI is recognized as a key contractor supporting the AEGIS program, and this latest contract attests to the high quality support BCI has been providing.  The AEGIS program has been, and continues to be, one of the Navy’s most successful, and BCI is proud to be an integral member of the support team.
